About Our Project
Investigating the recruitment and retention of simulated patients with regard to social differences (e.g. Gender, Faith, Ethnicity, Socioeconomic class race etc)
We are investigating the recruitment and retention of simulated patients (SPs) from multicultural communities. Volunteers will have to be 18 years of age and above and resident in the United Kingdom.
We welcome participants from black and minority ethnic groups and the wider community. Interested parties can participate regardless of religion, medical history, and occupation, country of origin, disability or sexual orientation. Our aim is to gain an insight and understanding of the needs of members of the local communities wishing to adopt the role of a simulated patient.
The advantages of participation in the project
The findings of this report will support the development of skills in communication raising awareness of the needs of our diverse communities. The role of the simulated patient from various cultural backgrounds aims to improve the experience for those accessing health care.
Can I withdraw at anytime?
Yes participants can leave at any time. Participation is completely voluntary for the study. It will not prevent you from participating in any future studies if you wish to.
What happens to the results?
Dissemination of the findings will include local presentation and the potential for wider dissemination through journal publication, academic conferences and local community centres. The data obtained from the participants will be treated confidentially. The findings of the study will be written up for a Masters of Arts degree.
Funding:
This research is funded by the Strategic Health authorities.
